Setting up a Custom Report
Clicking on the Custom Report icon in the Dashboard of the Explore Data section will open an empty Custom Report.
As prompted by the message in the area where the chart would normally be shown, before data can be visualized you must select the Dataset, Commodity, Measure, and relevant filters. Once the parameters have been chosen, click ‘apply’ and the data will appear in the chart below.
Naming the line in a Custom Report
To the left of the Dataset dropdown menu, there is a box with an empty field under the title Line Name. Type whatever name you find most appropriate for your line and click ‘apply’ to automatically update the information associated with this line in the chart and the table below.
Adding a line
Custom Reports can have up to four lines together. These can be four completely independent lines created from any dataset within the service. The Custom Report comes by default with one line. To add additional information to the chart click the ‘+ Add Line’ button under the filters.
Changing the axis of a line
When trying to visualize prices and volumes together, or any two lines with vastly different values it can be useful to differentiate which axis each line uses to reflect its values.
Changing the axis can be accomplished using the ‘Axis’ dropdown, to the left of the apply button, where you will be given the choice of left or right depending which side of the chart you would like to reflect the value of the line.
Changing the information in an existing line
The information associated with a line can be changed at any time. To see the information updated in the report, click hit ‘Apply’ after each change.
Removing a line
On the opposite side of the page from the box to add a Line Name, there is a small X in a light gray box. Clicking on it will remove the line from the report.
